Ka Ni Kanichihk: Keeping the Fires Burning

Ka Ni Kanichihk is a non-profit, community-based, Aboriginal-led human service organization that is committed to providing innovative and culturally safe programs to meet the distinct needs of the rapidly growing urban Aboriginal community.

Keep the Fires Burning is now in its 20th year, and has honoured more than 100 First Nations, Metis and Inuit Grandmothers and Grandfathers – all of whom have made a significant contribution to the advancement of Aboriginal Peoples, and, indeed, the safeguarding, nurturing and transmission of Traditional Knowledge and Practice.

Net proceeds raised from Keeping the Fires Burning will support the development and delivery of high quality, culturally safe services, programs and research. These are transformative and rooted in the restoration and reclamation of our positive and powerful cultural identity.
